What happens when you cross hot and sour soup with the viral dirty cabbage trend? You get an incredibly flavorful one pan meal packed with tender cabbage, ground beef, carrots and ginger plus a spicy sour sauce.
1small head green cabbagequartered and then thinly sliced
1cupshredded carrot
1bunch chopped scallions1 cup chopped + 2 tbsp for garnish
1/3tbspsoy sauce
1/3cupapple cider vinegar
½cupchicken stock
1tspwhite pepper
1tbspsesame seeds
Chili crisp or chili oil for serving
Instructions
In a large skillet or wok on medium high heat add the sesame oil and once hot add in the onion, garlic and ginger and cook for 3-4 minutes until the onion has softened.
Add the ground beef and use a wooden spoon to break the meat up into a crumbly texture as it cooks. Cook the beef for 4-5 minutes until it is no longer pink.
Add in the soy sauce, apple cider vinegar and chicken stock plus the cabbage and carrots, cover with a lid and cook for 10 minutes until the cabbage has all wilted.
Remove the lid add the scallions and white pepper and cook for a few more minutes uncovered until the liquid has evaporated. Garnish with sesame seeds, chopped scallions and a drizzle of chili oil before serving.
