This Turmeric and Ginger Shot is something I actually look forward to in my wellness ritual, especially when I pour it over a glass of ice. The ice softens the sharpness just enough and makes all the flavors taste brighter and more balanced. What really keeps me coming back, though, is knowing it’s doing something good for my overall health. Ginger and turmeric have always been my go-to for their anti-inflammatory properties, especially when you pair them with a pinch of black pepper to help your body absorb them better. You have to give this one a try for sore throats, to boost energy, help with puffiness, or just want a boost to your daily routine. It can even be great for a weight loss journey.

Tips For The BEst Turmeric & Ginger Shots
- Enjoy this over a glass of ice. Cold temperatures soften the intensity and make it much easier (and more enjoyable) to drink.
- Don’t be slow on cleaning up anything plastic that this may come in contact with. The yellow from the turmeric can stain.
- The benefits come from regular use, not just a one-time shot, so think of it as part of your everyday ritual.
How to Make this Turmeric and Ginger Shot Recipe
- In a blender, add all of the above ingredients and blend for 3-4 minutes until everything is blended into a smooth consistency.
- Strain through a fine-mesh strainer into a jar or glass pitcher. Use a spoon to press down on the pulp to get as much liquid out as possible.
- Divide between small glasses and serve.
- You can find the recipe card below for thorough instructions.

How to Modify
- Add other fruit juice, like lime juice, ginger juice, and even pineapple juice, for an added punch of bromelain for more anti-inflammatory effects.
- Add some whole fruit, like pineapple, green apple, or blueberries.
- For creaminess, use coconut milk instead of coconut water.
- Add more sweetness with a little spoonful of honey or maple syrup, and add according to your taste preferences.
- If you want it less spicy, you can absolutely omit the cayenne pepper.
- Add a sprinkle of cinnamon as a great addition for your immune health.
Serving Suggestions
Enjoy this at any time of the day, but I love to have it first thing in the morning. Try it with Mexican Baked Eggs, Summer Sheet Pan Frittata, Grapefruit Bowls, or enjoy some Greek yogurt topped with Apple Cinnamon Granola or Orange, Cranberry, and Pecan Granola.
It’s also great alongside a smoothie like my favorite Green Smoothie or Strawberry and Orange Smoothie.

Common Questions
Not necessarily, but peeling can give you a smoother, less bitter flavor. If you leave the skin on, just scrub it well.
Yes! Store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Shake well before using. You can also store ice cube trays for little one-ounce cubes to enjoy the entire week. Place in a shot glass and allow to thaw.
For most people, these immunity shots are fine to drink on an empty stomach, but if you have a sensitive stomach, try having them with or after food. I also find that having it over ice really mellows it down and can help out with the digestion process.
You can, and although you’ll get similar benefits, the flavor and potency are better with fresh. If using powder, start small and adjust to taste. The general rule is 1 teaspoon of ground for every tablespoon of fresh.
Yes! I don’t have a juicer, so the blender is my go-to for this recipe, but the juicer would allow you to skip the straining step.
