These Spicy Mango Popsicles are a wonderful treat to enjoy on a hot summer day. They contain just 4 healthy ingredients and are naturally sweet with an unexpected kick of spice.

Spicy Mango Popsicles

These 4 ingredient mango popsicles are a spin on Mango con Chile y Limon, one of my favourite things to enjoy on the beach when on holiday in Mexico. I love the combination of creamy mango, with the freshness of lime and unexpected kick of spice. If you aren’t a fan of spice you can reduce the amount of chili powder, but I personally think 1/2 teaspoon is perfect for anyone who wants a bit of heat without completely overpowering the popsicle.

Why You Will Love These Mango Popsicles

  • Flavour bombs! They are sweet, creamy, tart, refreshing and spicy, what more could you ask for in a popsicle??
  • 4 Simple Ingredients! They only contain 4 basic ingredients, 3 of which you will likely already have in your kitchen cupboard. All of the ingredients can easily be found at the majority of grocery stores.
  • These easy mango popsicles are a refreshing treat to enjoy on a hot day.
  • Most store-bought popsicles are packed with added sugar, these healthy popsicles rely on the natural sugars of sweet mango
  • These homemade popsicles are a healthy option when you are craving something sweet: They are Paleo, Vegan and SCD and are naturally sweetened with only mango, nothing else.
  • They take just minutes to make: This mango popsicle recipe couldn’t be any easier, just toss everything into a blender and blend. The hardest part is waiting the 3-4 hours for them to freeze before enjoying!

The Ingredients You Need To Make These Popsicles

  • Mangoes: I recommend using very ripe mangoes for the best flavour, but to cut costs you could use frozen mango. If the mango you are using is not very ripe you many need to add in 1 tsp of honey for sweetness.
  • Lime Juice: The acidic lime juice helps to cut through the sweetness of the mangoes and gives the popsicles are refreshing flavour.
  • Cayenne Pepper: Either cayenne pepper or chili powder work in this recipe. As a last resort you could alternatively use chipotle chili powder to give the popsicles a smokey spiciness. I have also used tajin which has worked well.
  • Salt: salt might seem like a stranger ingredient to add to these popsicles, but it really helps make the flavors pop

Equipment You Need To Make These Mango Popsicles

  1. Blender: A high speed blender is perfect for blending everything into a smooth mango puree. If you do not have a high speed blender, a food processor would also work.
  2. Popsicle Molds- I prefer using a silicone popsicle mold as the popsicles seem to slide out easily but any type of popsicle mold works (even paper cups and popsicle sticks!) If you don’t have a popsicle mold and are in a pinch, a plastic cup or ice cube trays can be used instead.

How To Make These Spicy Homemade Mango Popsicles

They truly could not be any easier to make

  1. Place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth
  2. Pour the mixture into popsicle molds and insert wooden popsicle sticks into each.
  3. Place in the freeze for a minimum of 4 hours
  4. Once frozen, run a popsicle under warm water to loosen from the mold. Enjoy!

Can I Use Frozen Mango Instead Of Fresh?

I prefer using fresh mangoes because I find that the fresh fruit is sweeter in flavor than frozen. If you are using frozen mango look for mango chunks that are darker in color and you may need to add a little maple syrup or honey. The frozen mango chunks will be hard to blend so you may need to add a splash of liquid such as a fruit juice (mango or orange juice) or coconut water.

Are These Mango Popsicles Spicy?

They definitely have a kick but this can easily be modified by adding more or less cayenne pepper. I do not recommend eliminating the cayenne pepper altogether as it’s a really nice addition and instead only adding a little bit (such as a pinch)

Ways To Modify This Mango Popsicle Recipe

  • You can make these into creamy mango popsicles resembling a mango lassi by adding coconut milk or greek yogurt. I recommend skipping the lime juice if you plan to turn these into a creamy popsicle
  • Swap the lime juice for lemon juice
  • Add a splash of fruit juice (such as mango juice) to really maximize the fresh mango flavor
  • In place of cayenne pepper you can use tajin to make these even more reminiscent of the mango tajin popsicles you can buy on the beaches of Mexico.
